Electric vehicle drivers that visit North Lincolnshire Shopping Park in Scunthorpe can now charge while they shop, after managing agent MK2 Real Estate installed a Pod Point twin charger.
The free to use, 7kW chargepoints were installed in response to the growing number of electric vehicle (EV) drivers on the roads in the UK. To use the charge points, drivers simply need to plug in their EV and confirm their charge using the Pod Point Open Charge smartphone app.
The last four years have seen rapid growth in the number of EVs in the UK with 6,300 plug-in cars registered in June, up 54% from last year. Over the 12 months up to September 2017, the number of registered plug-in vehicles in North Lincolnshire grew by 63%, one of the biggest increases seen anywhere in the country.
Marcello Della Croce, Director at MK2 Real Estate said: “North Lincolnshire is clearly getting on board with the electric vehicle revolution and demand for public charging is increasing. With this Pod Point chargepoint installation, we’re giving people more options for charging their EVs locally. MK2 Real Estate continuously looks for opportunities to provide sustainable property management solutions to our clients to ensure the properties that we manage are prepared for changes in the future.”
MK2 Real Estate is using Pod Point’s MIS to monitor usage of the charge points and will track utilisation on an ongoing basis before making any further investments.
The new charge points have been added to Pod Point’s Open Charge map.
